TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Men’s golf team will open up their spring campaign with a trip to Mobile, Alabama, to play in the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate on Feb. 10-11. This will be the third visit to the invitational for the Seminoles, who hope to earn their third straight tournament title.
The Seminoles will be one of 14 programs participating in Mobile, as the team opens play Monday at the par-72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course. The field is highlighted by the Seminoles, and also includes UAB, Chattanooga, Denver, Illinois, Illinois State, Louisiana, Louisville, Richmond, tournament host South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Texas State, Western Kentucky and Wofford.
Florida State looks to keep their momentum after an impressive fall portion of the season. The Seminole lineup will feature senior Jamie Li and All-American junior John Pak. Sophomores Calvin Sierota and Alberto Martinez, freshman Fletcher Wunderlich and redshirt freshman Cole Anderson will round out the rest of the FSU participants.
Pak recorded two top-15 finishes during his fall campaign, highlighted by a team-best sixth place finish at the White Sands Intercollegiate where he shot 9-under 207 (70-72-65). Last season for the Seminoles, the Scotch Plains, N.J., native established the single year scoring average record shooting 69.56 and joined legends Nolan Henke and Christian Raynor as the only Seminoles to win more than four tournaments in a season.
Leading the Florida State Men’s golf program is head coach Trey Jones, who is in his 17th year at the helm. Under Jones, the Seminoles have 25 tournament wins, most in school history, and have appeared in a school-record 14 consecutive NCAA Tournaments entering the 2019-20 season.
The first and second rounds begin on Monday at 8 a.m. ET with a shotgun start, and final round tee times start on Tuesday at 8 a.m. ET. The live scoring throughout the invitational can be followed on Golfstat.com.
Florida State will host the Seminole Intercollegiate on Feb. 22-23 at Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee, Florida. Admission for the tournament once again is free.
