Menlo College men finish third in golf tournament - Palo Alto Online

Menlo College's Anders Baumann made an auspicious debut for the Oaks men's golf team, finishing fourth as an individual and helping the team finish third in the Sonoma State Fall Invitational at Rooster Run Golf Club, which concluded Tuesday.

Christian Ingul shot a final round even par 71 to climb into fifth as an individual, two shots shy of Baumann.

Menlo shot 913. Sonoma State won the team title with a three-round total of 888. Chico State was second with a score of 899.

"My first round was solid," said Baumann, a native of Oslo, Norway. "It was windy out there, so I used punch shots on my way through the more difficult holes which saved me some strokes from the others. I sank a 55-footer on the last hole, which made the van trip back better."

Ingul opened the day in a tie for 20th and jumped into fifth with his even par round, third best of the day.

"I am happy with my game this tournament," said Ingul, a fellow Norwegian.

Menlo returns to action this weekend at the Bulldog Shootout in Redlands.
