The Big Four — MLB, NFL, NBA AND NHL — are stocked with natural talent. They have their share of on-course ballers, too. Makes sense. Athletic moves across all sports show up in the golf swing.
ICYMI: The best golfers in the NBA
The best golfers in the MLB
Here are the five best golfers in the NFL.
1. RYAN SUCCOP, 33
PK, Tennessee Titans
Low: +2.6; current: +2.6
Richland CC, Nashville, Tenn.
According to Discover South Carolina, Succop started playing as a young child when his family moved to a home on a golf course. “My dad would take me out after work, me with my one little club, and we’d hit balls every night before dinner,” he told Discover South Carolina. “Growing up, I had a group of kids my age, and we would play all day long in the summer, dawn to dusk.” By his junior year of high school, he was playing on a state championship golf team. His five other teammates played college golf while Succop went to the University of South Carolina for football, where he befriended classmates George and Wesley Bryan. Succop even caddied for Wesley when he played a tournament in Nashville.
2. BRETT KERN, 33
P, Tennessee Titans
Low: +0.8; current: +0.4
Nashville Golf & Athletic Club, Brentwood, Tenn.
The Titans punter reportedly likes to play once or twice a week, but if his Twitter cover photo is any indication, his passion for the game runs deep. Plus, he got out on Shinnecock (see photo below)!
